-4 weeks · 5+ napsNewborn windows are highly irregular. These are rough planning ranges. Watch sleepy cues, not the clock. Day-night confusion is common. Bedtime window is slightly longer.
-2 months · 4-5 napsWake windows gradually lengthen. The longest window is before bedtime. Naps remain short (30-45 min each).
-4 months · 4 napsWindows lengthen through the day. The 4th nap is a short catnap (30-45 min). Bedtime window is the longest. The 4-to-3 nap transition often begins around 4 months.
-7 months · 3 napsFirst window is shortest (~2h). Third nap is a 30-45 min catnap. Bedtime window is usually the longest. Bedtime may need to be earlier if the last nap ends early.
-10 months · 2 napsMorning nap + afternoon nap. Bedtime window is usually the longest. Bedtime may shift earlier if naps are short. Goal daytime sleep: 2.5-3.5 hours.
-14 months · 2 napsWake windows extend to 3-4 hours. Bedtime window is usually the longest. The 2-to-1 nap transition is common here. If baby resists the second nap for 1-2 weeks, they may be ready to drop to 1 nap.
-24 months · 1 napOn a 1-nap schedule, the pre-nap window is usually the longest of the day (5-6h). Single afternoon nap. Some toddlers near 24 months begin resisting the nap.
